Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya has established the first Women's Studies and Development Centre of the state in 2005, with the 10th plan financial assistance from Vishwavidyalaya Grants Commission, New Delhi. The focus of the Centre is on raising awareness and understanding of gender equality and equity issues, through curriculum research, policy debate and participatory activities that include engagements with students and other social changes aimed at achieving a society free from all types of gender based discriminations. The activities of the Center include organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, information dissemination, training, consultancy, research etc. Since its establishment, varied activities have been organized under the aegis of the center. Dr. Anupama Saxena is director in charge of this centre.
